It is on the readers that we must concentrate, not on the writers, on the readers who will make use of the text and “make something happen”
This statement by the writer Alberto Manguel – although it refers to literature - sums up the spirit in which the NMNM is launching its public programme Hors Circuit.
Hors Circuit, because we are small-sized. Our size is an asset, as it encourages encounters and intimacy with a work, a text or an artist, sitting at a table or in the shade of trees in the garden
Hors Circuit because we want to suggest alternatives, other kinds of reading, by giving visitors the opportunity to take a new look and to offer them choices. An artwork allows us much more freedom than we might imagine, from the moment we learn and train ourselves to explore, translate and interpret what an artist is offering us and consider it in the light of our own experiences.
Hors Circuit because there is also a circuit and we gain so much more by taking the time to step outside the usual tracks!
Throughout the year, the NMNM is offering informal meetings, visits, readings and music, linked to its exhibitions. More events will be added to the programme over the course of the weeks and the meetings. We invite you to check our web site www.nmnm.mc, our Facebook page and the local press regularly
These events are included in the price of the admission ticket, but places are limited to around twenty participants.
