“Chefs-d’œuvre en réserves” (Masterpieces in storage)

“Masterpieces in Storage” is a podcast series and an original creation by LACMÉ Production, based on an original idea by François Giannesini.
Museum storage rooms are like the attics of our old family homes. They are full of hidden treasures. Each museum has its own particular mystery; to uncover it is to understand its history, that of its collections, and how it operates. Each season, François Giannesini takes you on an unusual 30-minute tour to discover the forgotten masterpieces of our cultural heritage, which have so much to reveal to those who are willing to listen…

For the third episode of its fourth season, “Masterpieces in Storage” delves into the NMNM’s reserves.

To describe the New National Museum of Monaco, I would like to talk about eclecticism and freedom, as its collections are so diverse: paintings, sculptures, automaton dolls, stage sets and costumes, performances, installations…

In fact, it seems that this museum has also inherited the audacity of the great artists who have stopped off on the rock since the 19th century: Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir, later Serge Diaghilev and his famous Ballets Russes troupe, Joséphine Backer, and among the more contemporary artists, Michel Blazy and Sâadane Afif.

Today, I invite you to discover or rediscover Monaco through the prism of the arts and artists.

Located between sky and sea, let’s head to the New National Museum of Monaco!
