Célia Bernasconi, curator of the exhibition, has invited Chloé Royer to intervene in the exhibition “Les Années folles de Coco Chanel”.
Her filmic and sculptural work, essentially devoted to representations of the body, is the result of a series of dissonant plastic experiments based on the form of the fashion mannequin. Envisaged as a counterpoint to the exhibition, Of Limbs and Other Things brings together twenty works created between 2023 and 2025, including three new pieces in bronze, glass and ceramics, specifically produced for “Les Années folles de Coco Chanel”.
Born in 1989, Chloé Royer graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2015 and also studied at the School of the Art Institute – SAIC Chicago. In 2021, she won the FahrArt prize for Nous survivrons mais sans toucher, sans peau, a group of sculptures installed in the Walbeck district of North Rhine-Westphalia (DE). In 2022, she presents “Xenophora”, a solo exhibition at the AKSS Foundation on the island of Spetses (Greece), created during a residency in Athens with AMA. From September 2022 to July 2023, she is in residence at the Fiminco Foundation. In 2023, several of her works will be exhibited on the parvis de la Villette and at the Lafayette Anticipations Foundation.
