Every tourist town has its own little train. Often, the locomotive is a scaled-down version of those of days gone by, pulling a few wagons of passive strollers. The tour, offered in several languages, gets straight to the point. It focuses on the main monuments and historical highlights. Between each sequence, atmospheric music helps pass the time.

At the invitation of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, Lidwine Prolonge’s performance re-enacts her ‘grand tour’ of the Principality. With the sound of her voice, in a circular travelling shot, she weaves together cinematographic and literary references with anecdotes and happy coincidences. She invites us to reconsider the obvious in a landscape that has already been fictionalised many times. Suivre le Perroquet Blanc. Récits et autres tours was acquired by the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco in 2024.

Using practices such as performance combined with hypnosis, video-installation, photography, displays of objects and writing, Lidwine Prolonge’s work aims to establish a continuity between personal events and collective history, in order to create the conditions for a disturbance in our relationship with the situations we perceive, experience and think about.
