Open-air screening of Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s “Memoria”

06.08.2026 • / Screening - Villa Paloma

A Scottish horticulturist specializing in orchids visits her sick sister in Bogotá, Colombia. During her stay, she befriends a French archaeologist overseeing a construction project and a young local musician. Haunted by a mysterious, deafening noise that only she can hear, she embarks on an introspective and sensory journey.

Apichatpong Weerasethakul offers an immersive, sensory journey through the Colombian jungle. This lyrical and meditative cinematic experience, in which images and sounds intertwine, once again places Weerasethakul in the tradition of the Surrealists. A co-winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes after winning the Palme d’Or in 2011 for Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, the filmmaker delves even deeper into his favorite themes, such as dreams, memory, metaphysics, and time.
