Wednesday May 18 2022, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II was unveiled and put back in water the fountain sculpture “Hommage à la Princesse Grace”, 1969 by Guy Lartigue – NMNM collection, n°1997.6.1 – in the center of Josephine Baker square in Larvotto.

In September 2019, as part of the neighborhood rehabilitation project, the fountain had been dismantled. The operations of removal and crating of the sculpture, then its cleaning, restoration and reassembly were carried out by @bricelartigue, son of the artist. Most of the existing elements of the sculpture have been preserved (the original masts, the basins’ cover plates…) and the new shade of patina was chosen in accordance with the wishes of the artist Guy Lartigue, who died in the spring of 2021.

This conservation-restoration project was carried out jointly by the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, the Direction de l’Aménagement Urbain and the Direction des Affaires Culturelles de Monaco.
