Jardins Partagés

Léa Collet’s installation Jardins Partagés, presented at the Biennale de Lyon (September 19–December 13, 2026), takes as its starting point Monaco’s first Jardin Exotique and the Jardin Rosa Mir in Lyon. It is the result of two residencies rooted in their respective regions: a dual residency focusing on digital creation and school-based projects with the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, and an intergenerational production in Lyon as part of the Biennale de Lyon.

Jardins Partagés brings together an illustrated manuscript by Gustave Humbert (1896–1973), a gardener at the Jardin Exotique in Monaco and a collector of succulents and cacti, and the garden created by the Spanish craftsman and anarchist Jules Senis Mir (1913–1983) in Lyon as a tribute to his mother, featuring columns inlaid with seashells, stone arches, and succulents. These two “works” are brought to life through narratives created by the artist and the participants in the workshops she organized in Monaco and Lyon. Middle school students and local residents thus contributed to a project blending archival documents and fiction, reproductions and interpretations using Artificial Intelligence, resulting in new hybrid species printed in 3D and a film shown on multiple screens.

Léa Collet was born in 1989 in Lyon; she lives and works in Aulnay-sous-Bois.
Through film, installation, and performance, the artist constructs environments where the boundaries between the natural and the human, the physical and the technological, tend to dissolve. Her practice, informed by science fiction, brings together different forms of intelligence—plant, technological, and human—without hierarchy. In these hybrid spaces, forms blur and transform: vegetation connects to screens, while figures move through landscapes suspended between the living and the artificial, shaped by what the artist calls “augmented affectivity.”
