AGORA, La Place du musée LAB #3

24.01.2025 - 04.05.2025 / Villa Sauber

In 2015, the NMNM held its first LAB, titled ‘Behind the scenes of the museum’. In 2018, five artists were invited to query the very definition of a museum. And in 2025, as Villa Sauber prepares to undergo a vast structural transformation, the NMNM proposes to place the spotlight on its public programmes focusing on artists and the transmission they place at the heart of their work.

On one hand, works acquired by the museum since 2017 as part of its “Apprentis Collectionneurs” programme will be exhibited together with works from the heritage collections, while, on the other hand, visitors will be able to discover the work of Léna Durr and Éléonore False, two of NMNM’s recent artists in residence.

Lastly, with its invitation to Olivier Vadrot to design a new physical setting, this LAB will provide a space for discussion and collective experiences within the museum itself. A series of meetings, screenings and performances will be held throughout the exhibition, encouraging new projects to emerge.

La collection voyageuse”, “Le Nouveau Musée Numérique” and Léa Collet’s current residency will be the subject of regular workshops, as will the “Écoletopie” project developed by the design studio smarin, which will take the form of a mediation salon for the occasion.

A catalogue will be jointly produced with Éditions Empire during the exhibition.
