At a time when the Principality is developing a digital access policy, the NMNM, is establishing an online mediation and creation program. The Museum intends to develop cultural and artistic practices linked to digital technology through its offers of mediation and its exhibition spaces. Schoolchildren and visitors will be involved in initiation work and invited to reflect alongside artists and designers of new online media.

Intended to be deployed over time, the program sets up projects aimed at developing original digital creations and reflections that will be the subject of workshops, publications and meetings.

During her digital creation residency, artist Léna Durr focused on the collection of African art assembled in the 1950s by Georges Jessula, which was donated to NMNM in 2006 and has been conserved ever since. She wanted to reveal it to the public in the form of a sound and illustrated online narrative.

Rencontres au Musée (2021-2022)

As part of the “Tremblings” exhibition, five classes in the Principality were invited to work on the theme of encounters and otherness. The pupils designed their own museum room and the works and characters that populate it in pixel art, using Bitsy, a royalty-free software package.

Histoire d’objet – l’ouvroir (2022-2023)

As part of this dual program of mediation and creation in schools, two series of workshops were offered to CM2 and 5ème classes in the Principality, enabling pupils to encounter works from the Museum’s collections.

Invited to design the online extension of the Tremblings exhibition, Cassandre Poirier Simon idesigned a digital project in which she broaches the museum and its works as engines of dialogue. The project revolves around artistic content (videos, text, sounds, photographs, 3D animations) and educational content (cartels, critical or scientific texts) as a means to produce interactive journeys and a story.

As part of the Écoles du Sud network’s Workshop Week, Leslie Astier, in charge of the Nouveau Musée Numérique project, took part with author Théo Casciani in the Fictions d’expositions workshop organized by Mathilde Roman (ESAP Monaco) and Cécile Marie-Castanet (ESADMM Marseille) at the Pavillon Bosio.
